My first review of “subnautica”

Well, here is my 1st review of "subnautica". I love this game very much, but I’ll try to be objective. №1) HISTORY OF THE WORLD AND 3 HOURS READING
It so happened that the player can only learn almost the entire history of both the world and the game itself from notes, and the person who sat down to play for the first time will not understand anything. What kind of planet? Why am I in the middle of the sea? Where is the land? Why did the ship of the future fall at all and where are the people who survived the crash?? Sabnatika is a game about exploration, while traveling along the seabed, we will find shipwrecks, lifeboats of survivors, but we will never meet a living person anywhere. But we will find their tablets, where everything is said about their fate, since they wrote everything down. Someone was terrified of getting out and died of hunger (his lifeboat is next to the reaper, I wouldn’t have gotten out either), someone was eaten by local fish. The plot itself in Sabnatik is not ideal, it was created only to force the player to explore the world, and it copes with this task. Either a message will come on the radio about a survivor and his location, or due to a lack of resources, in order to build something you have to sail to unknown lands.
No. 2) BIOMES AND THE MAIN FEATURE OF THE GAME
Well, here it is, the world we find ourselves in. The player lands in "safe shallows". There are a lot of resources there, the depth is maximum 60 meters, there are no predatory creatures, the sun’s rays illuminate everything, but soon the player becomes cramped there and swims into neighboring biomes. There are 17 of them in total, there are places to swim. They are different. They are different and the flora and fauna in them are also different. Speaking of her. The main feature of the game is the scanner, or rather, what can be scanned with it. Literally everything. EVERY STONE, EVERY PLANT, EVERY FISH. You will be given a detailed description with a picture showing the features of what you scanned. Hence the reading for 3 hours, every blade of grass and drawings of equipment with instructions and warnings, every type of ore and what it is needed for, a new player will be very interested in reading all this. But there are as many as 17 biomes, each with its own flora and fauna! A colossal amount of time and effort was spent on this. What about the fauna??
No. 3) WHY IS THERE A "HORROR" TAG??
Yes, from my description, it may seem that the game does not provide any challenge to the player, but this is not the case. There are a huge number of fish in the game, and most of them are predators. What could be scarier than an ordinary angry fish?? Leviathans. There are only 9 of them in the game (actually 7, because 2 are cubs) and only 4 of them are safe. I brought only 2, not only are they big, but their. Here’s an example. YOU are swimming at a depth of 500 meters, the sun’s rays do not pass here, the only source of light is the headlights on your submarine, and suddenly you hear this (turn on "Sounds of the Phantom Leviathan" on YouTube or somewhere else). Silence, dark, only the screams of this creature, you cannot understand where it will strike from, from the abyss? above? Or maybe he’s already behind you? That’s what sabnatics is about, you don’t relax here, you survive. You will have to go down to the depths and meet its inhabitants. And their design mmmm. He’s gorgeous, I can watch these giants swim for hours, how they growl, it’s scary and beautiful at the same time. Most people who haven’t played or heard about this game don’t understand why it’s scary? Well growls, well big. BUT when I let them play on their own, descend into this abyss themselves, they immediately changed their minds. Each big fish has its own cry, but they all make their way into the soul. I just recommend trying to play and feel it (or watch entire videos on YouTube where famous streamers get scared and refuse to play when they find out the true face of this world)

But you don’t pay attention to the music until you feel like you’re safe. She is quiet and calm, she gives you rest and pleasure, another plunge into the kingdom of darkness was successful and you won. Screams from the abyss help a lot, they missed you. They frighten and at the same time remind you that you are safe now, be ready for the next battle. They can be heard even in the first biome – the safest zone in the entire game.

There are no weapons in the game, unless, of course, you count a knife, but I don’t think anyone will go after the reaper with a knife. And what is the way out? quickly evade pursuit, 4 types of transport will help you with this: 1) siglite motor with a propeller, fits easily in your hand and runs on batteries, honestly not the best choice.2) the moth is a real bathyscaphe. It’s fast, you can breathe in it, and if you add upgrades, you can even give an electric shock, a discharge of such force that it gives you a head start before the creature has the courage to attack again. The moth will serve for a long time and faithfully, a very good choice.3) the crab suit is the most durable vehicle in the game, can withstand maximum damage and is capable of diving to a depth of 1700 meters. He is very slow, can only walk and jump, is useless without improvements, but the only chance to beat the game and, with the proper courage, challenge the offender in the form of any leviathan. His hands can be replaced with a drill, a suction cup and a torpedo launcher. The drill is needed for extracting resources, in a place where there are entire deposits of them, it is very good against living creatures. The suction cup was created to save the crab from its slowness, at first it’s unusual, but then you begin to understand how it works and you get a huge boost to speed. You can also attach yourself to the leviathan’s back and beat him with impunity. And garbage in the form of torpedoes, a game against violence, so torpedoes only create a vortex (which does not work against large creatures) and poison (also does not work against creatures larger than a dolphin) 4) cyclops is the most desirable, a base that can float. The Cyclops is huge, in theory it should be controlled by 3 people, but we are the only living person on this planet. Its size is amazing, it can also be improved, I won’t talk about that now, otherwise there are a lot of them. Oddly enough, the Cyclops is weaker than the crab, plus it is large, which does not allow it to climb into many places. But why is he so loved?? Besides the fact that it is huge, it can: transport vehicles (only one), charge this vehicle, you can build in it, put a bed, battery charger, cabinets (even though they are already in it) and much more. There may not be enough transport in the first part, but it is interesting, there is one for all situations and there is a damn submarine in the game!
No. 6) dead zone
In Sabnatics the world is clearly generated, its landscape is the same, which means the map has an end. Yes, it exists, and the update that brought it is considered one of the best by me. Dead zone or end of the world is a creative solution to create a place where the player should not swim. I’ll start with an explanation, our ship fell on a volcano, it awakened a long time ago, its top was overgrown and its own flora and fauna appeared there, the volcano is so large that it grew and almost reached the water level, the dead zone is the end of the volcano and the exit to the main world. Everything in it has died out, there is nothing except microbes and a ghostly leviathan (yes, it was introduced in this update and yes, the fact that everything has died out there is also a spoiler), but the leviathan is not simple, it is much larger than its relatives, its color is dark blue, not light. There is no bottom in the dead zone, the maximum depth there is 8000 meters, after which the player is teleported to safe shallows. This is the most terrible zone in the game, there is no light at all, there is no bottom (I highly do not recommend looking into the abyss) and there is not only one leviathan there, if you keep it there, then 2 more will come. for seasoned players it became a challenge whether they could reach the limit or not (I tried, it didn’t work). The only way out of the dead zone is to get to the bottom, because the guards won’t let you just swim out of it.
No. 7) the worst bug in the game
Here’s what I encountered myself:. It only happens to (spoiler) and Cyclops. What’s the point, you can very easily get stuck in Cyclops and in this one (spoiler), but after that the game pushes you out, in other games the player would die, but here, he is allowed to suffer. The character himself weighs less than ore, he (the character) is the lightest thing in the game, and what do you think is happening? Yes, with 100% probability we will reach the dead zone, almost naked, and we are on the surface, that is, the attack will come from below, from this black abyss, which is much worse. Well, okay, the character will just die, the game has difficulty with one death, how do you know what I experienced?
No. 8) lack of co-op
This is not just my complaint, imagine playing this game with your friends. Funny? But this is not possible, but why?? There will be no feeling of loneliness? So if the player wants, he can play alone. Maybe mods will help? No, there was one like that, he was popular, but the creator got tired and quit it. Nobody wanted to continue and everyone just abandoned it, which is a pity

Any self-respecting survival simulator will always have crafting and construction. Everything is very good here. A huge number of tools that helped to survive, starting with a knife, ending with a gun, forcing the enemy to be numb for a while. Do you want a base? Please!, ordinary corridors, glass corridors, huge rooms, windows, aquariums, a scanning room, bioreactors, solar panels, nuclear reactors, interiors, coffee machines (they really make coffee), beds, observatories and this is not the end, there is room for your imagination to run wild. Honestly, I want toys, Lego could have released several sets, but apparently it’s not fate
#10) Summary
If someone asks how I could describe sabnatics, I would answer: “If you look into the abyss for a long time, the abyss begins to look at you.”. The game shows the true nature, charming and beautiful, but dangerous and ruthless. The game has disadvantages, including many mechanics that are simply unnecessary and useless (hello torpedoes and gravity guns) and plot holes that should be explained in the second part of "Subnautica: Below Zero".
