Combo with history [Analysis of fighting styles in Tekken] Part 2

By 2025年9月2日 blog-1144 No Comments

107 characters. This is how many heroes managed to take part in the Iron Fist tournament. And that’s not counting all the versions of Jacks. To put it mildly, a lot. I once talked about how developers can hide important information about their backstory, character, and personality in characters’ movie sets. It’s time to do it again cause I’m not done. If you haven’t read the last part, it won’t interfere with your understanding, but I still highly recommend. And who should I start with this time??

This time I decided not to divide the characters into categories, but the principles that I discovered in the previous material also apply to these characters. I also warn you that I have never practiced any of the martial arts mentioned, so I am open to criticism in the comments

Paul Phoenix. Let’s start with heavy artillery, and I know that’s what you’ve been waiting for the most. Personally, me too, because as one of the oldest characters in the series, Paul can easily be considered one of the most developed. The man whose fists can destroy a brick wall. Rival of Kazuya Mishima, as well as self-proclaimed Strongest Man in the World! The latter is not even close to the truth, considering that Paul’s inspiration is Chuck Norris. Suddenly? Yes, it’s not quite obvious, but parallels can be found. Paul, like Chuck, opened his own dojo for martial arts training. Both were friends with Bruce Lee, only if Chuck is with the real one, then Paul is with the local. Each of them also created their own martial art, which we will now move on to.

Mr. Phoenix, even though he is a grown man who will soon be 50, is still a goofball at heart. His martial art is made in the best traditions of American cuisine. Of everything. Most often his style is indicated as Judo, what can be seen in his grips. But this martial arts, which, by the way, I talked about last time, is aimed at self-defense and is even translated as “The Soft Path”. But Paul’s gameplay is pure aggression and dominance, not an ounce of softness. Probably the fact that he knows Judo is one of the most ironic things about Tekken. Among other things, he uses kickboxing and karate techniques. There is also a reception Samersault, which Paul learned from the same local Bruce Lee – Marshall Lowe. More precisely half of this reception. One of the recurring gags in the series is that Paul doesn’t have the dexterity to pull it off perfectly. Subsequently, he became a full-fledged combo, so Paul is so stupid that he uses a technique that he has not really mastered. If you count only canon scenes.

In fact, a great way to end a fight if you want to piss off your opponent

In general, he scored well. And, on the one hand, such a bunch of different styles shows how Paul lacks concentration. It’s still normal for a series to have two fighting styles, but taking one move from everywhere is more unusual. But on the other hand, he still managed to create his dojo. Yes, he failed in his support, but this shows his meager business skills, not combat ones. He also managed to defeat Ogre. The final boss of the third part, for a minute. Yes, not everything is obvious there either, but he did it. Paul knows what he’s doing, and the fact that his style is made up of bits and pieces thrown together shows his understanding of the martial arts on an instinctive level and the ability to take something really necessary from each style. In other words, Paul is Philadelphia rolls. Made according to the best Japanese traditions, in America.

Oh yeah, Chuck Norris did the same. Believe it or not, in one of his martial arts, American Tang Soo Do (American Tang Soo Do), there were also many borrowings from Judo and Karate. Coincidence? Don’t think. Because literally every martial artist from America in the 80s did it. That is, they took everything that the Asians came up with and somehow put it together. One of these craftsmen, Willie Williams, inspired Paul to put on his gi, according to lore. So Paul is a collective image of karate masters from America in general. And he copes with this task perfectly. And finally, we can say that his appearance also resembles Chuck’s appearance. It’s not that there’s anything special about it, but it wasn’t that often that brutal bearded men were shoved into fighting games back then. By the way, the beard of both Paul and Chuck also did not immediately become established in the image. Although Phoenix’s hair is a confirmed JoJo reference. We live in an amazing world where a misunderstanding on Polnareff’s head could become inspiration for the design of at least three fighting game characters.

But now I want to discuss that feud with Kazuya. Remember that Paul is an aggressive character. His main task is to pin the enemy to the wall and not let go. And one of the effective ways to counter him is to disrupt his rhythm with the help of panishers, consider counterattacks. Do you happen to remember which of the characters has strong panishers?? Exactly. Kazuya was created to counter Paul. I wonder what their feud would have led to if Bandai had not forgotten about it. Poor Paul.

The creators of fighting games like to build a roster of fighters in homage to existing personalities. Who do you think is still missing?? That’s right, Tekken’s version of Jackie Chan. I ask you to love and favor. Lei Wulong (Oolong, if you like)! In fact, Leia is probably one of the most accurate homages to Jackie Chan in fighting games, and also one of the few characters in the franchise who noticeably ages. He is a policeman from Hong Kong. we record the first reference to the image of Jackie from the Police Story franchise. Just like his prototype, he is a rather humorous guy who often finds himself in ridiculous situations. His main fighting style is Tsui Kwan (Zui Quan), or rather one of its forms, which you probably better know as Drunken Master Style. Recording another referral. Very fitting for the character, especially considering…it’s one of the hardest fighting styles to master? Something doesn’t add up here, really? The cop is a goofball and has a complex fighting style? And I’ll explain everything to you.

In addition to being a charismatic prankster, Leah is also a gifted cop. He may act stupid, but when it comes to work, he deserves the title of supercop. We record another reference to the film of the same name with Jackie. His workaholism even affects his personal life, because his passion for work led to a breakup with his girlfriend. He may seem stupid, but this is just a façade behind which hides a man who is fighting with all his might for a just cause. The drunken fist style suits him perfectly, as at first glance he also looks silly and funny. But in reality, simulating drunken movements is incredibly difficult, even if an outside observer may feel like the fighter is playing the fool. I want to emphasize the word IMITATION. Many creators of fighting games often reduce mastery of this style to a simple principle: “When you get drunk, you learn kung fu.”. Jamie from Street Fighter, Shun from Virtua Fighter and so on. It is clear that this image is more easily perceived by the public, including thanks to the same Jackie Chan, but it seems to me that this is even somehow disrespectful to one of the most complex and widespread forms of Chinese martial art. Perhaps this is his main strength – people underestimate him. Just like Leia is underestimated. Noticed a pattern? You won’t find a better master of drunken boxing than our supercop.

But besides this, he is also a master Wu Xinga (Wu Xing) or Style of Five Animal Forms. Firstly, we record another reference to Jackie’s favorite style. Secondly, yes, it was one of the sets of these forms that inspired the five from Kung Fu Panda. I don’t even know what’s weirder, the very fact of mentioning Kung Fu Panda or the fact that it happened specifically on this character, although there is a real panda in the series? As you can imagine, mastering all five forms is also not an easy task, which again shows the fanaticism with which Lei devotes herself to her work. Unsurprisingly, his movesets are among the most difficult to master, which is why he is unfortunately not the most popular character in ranked matches. And apparently that’s why the studio is afraid to add him to new parts. I hope they’ll add it to the eight at least with DLC.

Seeing this will make you think twice about whether it’s worth Maintaining it

Seeing this will make you think twice about whether it’s worth Maintaining it

By the way, let’s talk about not the most popular characters. Bruce Irwin. There is practically nothing super interesting in his style. 107 characters, not all need to be so developed. But his biggest tragedy is that he was replaced as many as 3 times. His main martial art is Muay Thai (Muay Thai). One of the most brutal and effective. Techniques from there are widely used in MMA. Very suitable for Bruce, who, unlike Paul, did not want to become the strongest out of boredom, but studied martial arts to protect himself while living in a disadvantaged area. But it just so happened that at the time of the release of the first part, Mauai Thai was not so popular and therefore Bruce was enrolled as a kickboxer. Which is generally true, because Muay Thai is considered the progenitor of kickboxing. This also explains why he does not perform Wai khru ram muay, a ritual of respect for his opponent, which was given to another fighter in the series.

For Bruce, his art is just a tool. Maybe that was the problem. It does not reflect his character, it is only a means to achieve goals. It is not a cultural representation. He doesn’t look like a Thai, you’ll agree. And he practices a branch of one of the most popular martial arts, which itself has already become the most popular. Therefore, at first his techniques were given to the crazy Brian, then to the playful Josie and then to the literal personification of Thai boxing – Fakhuram. It’s a shame, I think Bruce is an important part of the series. But I decided to still include it in this material to show the ways in which the series can change characters, but keep the fighting style.

By the way, about https://winztercasinouk.com/games/ blacks and homages. Raven is literally Blade. A cold-blooded and brutal man who is known for how pathetically he stood on the roof of an airplane. His main style is Ninjutsu (Ninjutsu) and it’s surprising that he has much more in common with real ninjas than the real Japanese ninjas of the Yoshimitsu and Kunimitsu franchises. Especially considering that Ninjutsu never existed. A loud statement, but what we can see in films or Naruto is either other martial arts, or what Yoshimitsu does (systematic violation of the laws of physics and logic). But this does not mean that ninjutsu is a complete invention, it is just a little different from what they are trying to convince us of. This is a set of disciplines that were taught to spies and assassins, such as the ability to climb steep walls, carry a concealed weapon, and so on. Martial arts are also included in this list. Specifically measles or Kobudo (Kobudo) – areas of ancient Japanese martial arts that ninja practiced. For example, Shingeki-ryu (Shingeki Ryu) and Kenjutsu (Kenjutsu), ancient sword techniques. Yes, with a sword. Martial arts is not just about “swinging your fists”, it’s about mastery of combat in general. Can we say that Raven is trained by him?? Quite. His blades hang behind his back for a reason. Tanto’s specific use is related to Tantojutsu and even his posture looks like he is ready to draw his weapon at any moment. Although he doesn’t use it as often as his squadmates.

Raven is not a name, it is a call sign that all Raven Division operatives have. In the series we have as many as three representatives of this group. In addition to our Wesley Snipes, there is Master Raven – the boss of mini-Raven, who uses a Katana. It would be more convenient to wear it on the belt, but it is located behind the back so that the weapon does not restrict movement. The ninja’s task is still covert penetration and espionage. Therefore, it is not surprising that she uses it quite rarely. Exactly how her ward uses his blades. But Victor, aka Phantom Raven, already carries his sword right at hand. He is the leader of the entire unit and holds a command position. Obviously, in his expensive suit, he will not hide in the corners, because his equipment is more suitable for an open confrontation, which he is not embarrassed to use in battle (An expensive suit for open confrontations is still a questionable choice, but what can you do in this anime). He is also not shy about using pistols. This is his ganjutsu.

A distinctive feature of the unit’s operatives is a tattoo of a stylized hieroglyph.

. which translates to "Death"

Although it is interesting that Victor’s style is listed as CQC, or Close Quarter Combat. Combat discipline studied by the military to counter the enemy at close range. You may have seen other manifestations of CQC in the Metal Gear Solid series. I’m sure that as soon as fans saw the abbreviation, they began to expect a mention of the franchise. Looking at this whole Phantom and Master Raven thing, I’m wondering if this is all a big reference to Kojima’s creation with his eternal liquid and solid Snakes? Let’s leave this question open and return to the Frenchman. His choice of style is interesting for two reasons. Firstly, it is obvious that Victor, as the creator of the unit, learned his style back when he was a special agent. He trained his subordinates in what was required for the effective operation of a narrowly focused detachment, instead of the disciplines in which he was trained before its formation. Secondly, in a sense, foreign CQC can be considered a mirror image of Soviet Sambo, a combat discipline that was also developed for the military. Therefore, Victor’s feud with Sambo master Dragunov becomes more interesting. So, this is a confrontation between two martial arts that are similar in nature. But in fairness, Seryoga came to their duel in the eighth part without a gun, so it’s a little unfair to reveal a superior style. But he could use a tank. Although every Raven has something of a REAL Ninja. Shadow clones and teleportation like in Naruto. So what, Tekken has always been an anime.

But there are a couple more skilled killers in the series whose styles are very similar. I’m talking about sisters Anna and Nina Williams. Like many relatives in the series, they share a common hatred for each other. Well, you know those brothers and sisters, they are constantly naughty with each other with a bazooka. But you can’t tell right away that both seem to be practicing the same martial arts that their parents taught them. They just use them differently. I would say in different proportions.

The girls’ mother, a British champion, taught them Aikido (Aikido) – Japanese martial art, which was created for self-defense. Its main principle is to fight the enemy using his own weight. The techniques of this martial arts are aimed at winning with a minimum of damage to the attacker. In general, a fairly popular martial art, which, by the way, I mentioned in the last part. But the father of the family was an Irish assassin and taught his daughters Koppoijutsu (koppojutsu) – another Japanese martial art that can be translated as "Bone Breaker". This is a whole complex of systems, which includes techniques studied by samurai and, believe it or not, ninjas. So we are back to the topic of Ninjutsu. Koppoijutsu techniques are literally the opposite of Aikido. They use direct attacks, and many disciplines do not prohibit striking pressure points and are prohibited on the competitive stage. They thought Jin Kazama was trained in radically different styles? These sisters simultaneously master martial arts, which are translated as “The Way of the Harmonious Spirit” and “Bone Breaker”. But it is precisely this internal contradiction that very clearly shows the difference between the two sisters, as well as the reason for their enmity, which sometimes eludes the player.

The developers have come up with a rather clever scheme to preserve the beauty of Nina and Anna after the time skip.

All you had to do was send the sisters into cryogenic sleep before the third part.

Let’s start with Nina. She’s cold-blooded and cruel. It seems her job is the only thing that matters to her. When choosing between Tom and Jerry, she chooses the cat. This is important. Her techniques mostly consist of Koppoijutsu, so it’s clear who the daddy’s girl is here. It was probably in Nina that he wanted to see his replacement as one of the best assassins. Her techniques, as you’d expect from this martial art, rely on strong direct attacks, many of her combos can remove an unhealthy amount of HP, and she, like King, has chain holds that are straight out of Aikido. Thus, the blonde uses even the safest movements of her mother to kill, and if it weren’t for the characters’ life strip, her techniques would be almost fatal. With such a moveset, it’s no surprise that she’s quite a difficult character to master.

But Anna is a completely different case. She is not that good at Koppoijutsu, so she mainly relies on Aikido. Interestingly, unlike her sister, she does not forget that she is, you know, a woman. And often uses her sexuality to manipulate men. Her movements are more playful, and the abilities of a good manipulator are manifested in deceptive movements. But despite her femme-fatal image, the brunette has a softer personality. Once upon a time, it was she who tried to take a step towards making peace with her sister. It’s not that she really likes all this assassin activity, at some point she even planned to get married and have a relationship. What a pity that her fiance, you know, was killed by her sister, so somehow it didn’t work out. How did such a nice woman become an assassin, and not someone like a top model?? I think you already guessed who daddy paid more attention to.

It was in Nina that he saw the successor of the family business and therefore paid less attention to little Anna. So it turns out that the enmity between the sisters is primarily tied to the struggle for fatherly attention, which Anna lacked. Perhaps that is why she became an assassin without showing much interest in this matter. But her mother’s care made her a more open person, while Nina grew up heartless and strict like her father. The blonde’s killer turned out to be quite good, definitely better than his sister, since according to the canon, it was Nina who had the most victories. Goes well with the fact that Anna’s movesets in the community are recognized as easier, and therefore logically weaker. But if we compare the intrigues that the sisters are plotting, then on the one hand we have public nudity, and on the other, the death of the groom. Not quite equal ratio.

There is simply no place for love in Nina’s heart, she even views her son as an unnerving nuisance, and she would have gotten rid of her sister long ago so that she wouldn’t get in the way. In turn, Anna still loves her sister deep down, but burying the hatchet is becoming more and more difficult. Their techniques are a great example of how you can make similar characters on one hand that play and feel completely different. And also tell a story through a fight. After all, only thanks to their techniques can we say for sure who is a cold-blooded killer and who is confused in search of fatherly love. Which doesn’t change how willing they both are to kill each other anyway when it comes to it. Don’t think Anna is suddenly becoming a saint. But in the choice between Tom and Jerry, she chooses the mouse.

By the way, yes, Nina has a Son and he also does well in the Iron Fist tournament. Steve Fox very interesting character. He’s a boxer, not that uncommon in fighting games, but the fact that he, like a boxer, doesn’t use kicks is something that doesn’t happen often anymore. To be fair, sometimes it still uses. In general, the list of his techniques has its own nuances, such as throws, which are prohibited in real boxing, but it’s still interesting how carefully the developers approached the implementation of this sport. And it’s hard to blame Steve, considering that his opponents sometimes even have melee weapons and no one cares about it. Interesting that Steve has a friendly feud with Hwoarang. Let me remind you that the latter is a master of Taekwondo, a martial art that relies on frequent use of the legs. So it turns out that the developers made their own version of Hitmonchan and Hitomnley from Pokemon using another difference between fighting styles.

But enough talking about the differences and let’s talk about the similarities. It’s been a long time since we discussed the style of the Mishima family. In the last article I said everything I wanted. I’ll just note that after completing the eighth part, Jin’s mastery of several different styles at once resulted in a simply incredible finale. No, seriously, I don’t want to spoil it, but literally everything I said in the last video was fired with a volley of Chekhov’s guns. God, Tekken is my favorite anime, but I digress. Let’s talk about other important masters of this genre. For example, oh, yes, yes, you got it right, I already hinted at these fighters before. We’ll talk about..Kume. AND Pande. God, Tekken is my favorite anime.

But wait, why? No, why is there a playable bear in the series at all – that’s fine, but how is he related to the Mishima family? The answer is simple. Kuma is Heihachi Mishima’s personal bear. He found him lost in the woods…a bear lost in the woods, yeah, and decided to take him as a pet. But he turned out to be so smart that his grandfather taught him his fighting style, as well as sign language, and generally made him his bodyguard. And when he died of natural causes, he did the same to his son, Kuma 2. But Panda has already been issued by the Mishima Academy as a protector bear for Lin Xiaoyu. She received it as a sign of respect from the same Heihachi, for the strength that she showed when she beat his employees. And this Panda is trained in a special Mishima bear style – Kuma Shinken (Heihachi-style Improved Kuma Shinken). First of all, Heihachi loves his bear more than any of his sons. Secondly, although Kuma and Panda may seem like absolutely frivolous characters, over the course of the series they acquired their own individuality. And already in the eighth part we see not only how they visually resemble their owners, but also how they adopt some of their techniques. Kuma acquired a couple of new moves that Heihachi once used, and Panda learned a couple of moves from Xiaoyu.

In Part 8, Kuma literally looks like a bear version of his master.

Exactly like Panda.

From a game-mechanical point of view, it is clear why they began to differ so much from each other only in the eighth part. The studio just didn’t think these characters needed that much attention, for obvious reasons. But from a narrative point of view it still makes sense. Because in Kuma’s case, he only adopted Heihachi’s techniques and appearance after his TYPE final death. What can be interpreted as an attempt to inherit the place of its owner completely. I think Heihachi’s love for Kuma was mutual. In the case of Panda, the bear spent just enough time with her owner to change the style she had been taught before to something more familiar. It is not uncommon for pets to take on the character traits of their owners, which can also be seen in victory and entrance poses. And I know I’m talking about a character that was originally a re-skin of Jack, and also a re-skin of that re-skin, because Panda didn’t even get a slot in a long time, but isn’t that great?? The studio has spent so much effort bringing uniqueness to characters that have long been treated as jokes. And now Kuma and Panda even appear in the main story. Even more often than Bruce. Tekken is the only game series that can turn ordinary bears into an important part of the lore. Ordinary and not some humanoid race from a country with some funny name like "Pandaria".

Speaking of sons. Not all members of the family practice the Mishima style. For example Lars Alexanderson. The bearer of the most non-Japanese surname in the family, although he is not shy about using the language of the land of the rising sun for communication. Once upon a time, the man who was able to win an anime hairstyle competition was the captain of Tekken Force. It is also the personal PMC Mishima Zaibatsu. But he got there not with the help of connections, but thanks to his impressive combat skills. But what exactly are they?? His martial arts are listed as Tekken Force martial art. And if you look for its analogue in real life, you will be disappointed. Harada himself stated that Lars’ movements were made up by about 90%. There is an obvious trend in the series, where with each new part the fighters use real martial arts less and less and more and more chainsaws instead of hands or something like that. But in general, Tekken Force does not exist as such a fighting style. Each unit tries to copy the movements of its leader, who himself directs his squad along the path that he needs. And Lars has a lot of charisma, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to drag half of the entire PMC to himself when he created an army of rebels.

But a martial art being fictional doesn’t mean there’s nothing to tell about it. 10% of his fighting style still has some basis. It’s incredibly hard to notice because Lars fights like a Power Ranger, but it’s Shorinji Kempo (Shorinji Kempo). Japanese version of Shaolin kung fu, by the way. It was founded by former military man Doshin So, who lived in China for a long time, where he learned his art. A soldier who has learned overseas martial arts already fits the definition of Lars, but then more. Because the reason he founded it was to try to help the people of Japan who were very divided after World War II. He tried to help them find a new path and teach them the philosophy of Buddhism. As a soldier, he had to see what a person is capable of and this is what opened his eyes to human nature, which prompted the formation of a doctrine that was based on the perfection of both body and spirit. And Lars also left Tekken Force after Jin Kazama declared World War III in part 6. Yes, there was something like that in the series. It is not surprising that he also formed his rebel army, Ygdrasil, from former soldiers, trying to show them the other side of the coin, as Doshin So once did.

Let’s go back to Naruto. I don’t know how it happened, but it was Lars who had the honor of becoming a crossover character in Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2

Yes, you can’t say much about the movements here, but you must agree, the parallels are interesting. Although Lars’ combo also has its interesting moments. For starters, he’s a pretty easy character to master. As I already said, at one time it was he who had to bear the burden of the main character, and the plot campaign of the sixth part is tied to him. Therefore, it was designed in such a way that it would be easier for beginners to get used to it and not feel pain in the sciatic organs. Unfortunately, this pain was felt mainly by those who fought Lars, because the easier the character is to master, the more difficult it is to defeat him statistically. So they did the same thing with his movie sets as with his role in the plot. Nerfed. Of course, these are all jokes and it is obvious that Lars still has a significant role, but you must admit, the parallels are funny. It is also worth noting that, despite not being a karate master Mishima, Lars still adopted the traits of his father. His uppercuts, dashes, spinning attacks, there is something Mishimov-esque about them. Here you can recognize both the movements of the captain of Mishima’s personal army and the movements of his son. Well, and lightning. Lots of lightning. Somehow it turned out that if you are Mishima, then lightning is your feature. And now it’s time to talk about another lightning specialist. It’s not for nothing that I teased it in the last topic.

If Lars was once meant to take the role of one of the main protagonists, then this young lady should most likely take the role of the new head of the bastard. Reina. Who is she? What is she? Why does she? The character is extremely mysterious, but one thing is clear – she is Heihachi’s daughter and his main replacement in the eighth part. At least she was. In the eight, her style is listed as unknown, but it largely copies her father. Let me remind you that we are now talking about the karate of the Mishima clan, which has many variations, depending on the prototype martial arts that the character uses. This is probably the most inconsistent fighting style in general, considering how much it can differ from master to master. Heihachi’s style is based on Goju-ryu (Goju Ryu) and Shorin-ryu (Shorin Ryu). Reina’s style largely consists of Taido (Taido). They are not connected as strongly as the rest of the three protagonists. The main thing that unites them is the prefecture of origin, because each of these styles is the Okinawan branch of karate. Specifically, Taido has common ancestors with Shorin-ryu, and the easiest way to determine this is by the stances that are quite wide in comparison with other styles. It is in comparison with the styles of the main family that Taido reveals Reina well.

It’s hard to believe how this girl plays the innocent lamb in the plot when you see her sitting on the throne

For starters, this is the youngest fighting style in the Mishima family. Even Kyokushin (Kyokushin) Gina is about a year older than Taido, which allows us to use this to determine Reina’s age. If you believe the words of the founder of Taido, Seikin Sekumine, he developed his martial art because he believed that karate was very outdated and if it is not adapted to modern realities, it will forever disappear in the abyss of constant stagnation. This point of view is controversial, but it fits perfectly with the view of the life of Reina, who was supposed to be a breath of fresh air for the series, occupying an important place in the Mishima family tree. Innovation and change.

Also interesting are some principles of Taido. For example, in classic sparring there is no division by weight. The philosophy of this fighting style is that a master of this martial arts should be able to defeat an opponent of any weight category, and not hope to find someone his own size. And just try to tell me that this girl weighing 51 kg is afraid to fight Kazuya, who only in human form weighs 81. Also, one of the features of Taido can be called his mobility. This style relies on fast movements, constantly moving around the arena, frequent footwork, and full use of acrobatics in combat. The essence of Taido is to impose your rhythm on the enemy. Show your dominance in the arena. And this approach is perfectly reflected in Reina, whose gameplay is based on aggressive attacks, just like her grandfather, and constant movement across the battlefield. Not to mention the fact that among the entire family she is the smallest. Wardrobe Heihachi would hardly be able to jump around the arena with the same agility. Taido’s main goal is to make the enemy act as you force him to. Exactly like Reina’s goal to manipulate others in the direction she needs.

Looking at Reina’s movement design, it’s obvious that Harada and company really want her to be one of the leading figures in the plot. And to be honest, I wish it were true. I think the heroine is doing a good job as the heiress of Heikhchi. Just as cunning, aggressive and arrogant. Well, according to the classics, she also masters the signature techniques of the Mishima family perfectly. Plus, the developers decided to make it vulnerable to Headbut Carnival. Heihachi’s favorite pastime is when he hits his opponent with his forehead, and if he reacts sufficiently, he can answer him. And he can only do this with male characters and with Reina.

The old man is definitely prouder of his girl than his sons. She uses her forehead well

I think Jin and company will still have problems with her, but we’re not really interested in that right now

107 characters. My God, what potential is there still?. Actually not very big. In this material, I tried to analyze those fighters about whom I had long wanted to talk, but could not fit them into the first part for one reason or another. As for the rest, this is a controversial situation. Someone too young and/or unimportant that there’s not much to talk about. The same Steve and Bruce are more like small interludes between really interesting fighters. And some people don’t even have martial arts, so think of something to talk about here. BUT! The plot of the eighth part is still ongoing, characters from the season passes are still being released, and there is unused material in my notes. Therefore, if the response to this material is positive enough, then I may still return to the Iron Fist tournament. Maybe I’ll even tell you about such iconic fighters as… Lucky Chloe. But for now I have other fights that are waiting for my attention. And it seems to me that they are already ready for the next fight.
